At the Virginia Beach Academy of Martial Arts, FSG has been a work in progress.  Starting with Mr. Varners background in Judo that he started in Japan in 1977, to the influx of Russian techniques from Andrei Tishankov (former all European Sambo champion).  Team VBAMA combines the most effective aspects of Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, American Wrestling, Russian Sambo, & Japanese Judo.

Class emphasis:

In a normal class we emphasize takedowns, throws, pins, mat work, chokes, and joint locks to cause your partner to surrender before injury occurs.  We train in T shirts & shorts, wrestling boots are optional.  Large classes are split into experience levels for learning expediency.
